About MarnieMarnie is a teacher from birth - teaching everything from crafting and swimming to horse back riding and knitting. It isn't unusual to find Marnie grinning while three computers and two iPads are open on her desk! A digital native from the wrong generation, Marnie's tech skills are self taught through inquiry and play - which are also her favorite means to teaching her students - inquiry and play!
Outside of school, aside from technology, Marnie loves to read, write, and recharge from super packed school days. She lives with Sparky Anderson, a rescued Chorkie, who keeps her busy with lots of walks and a knack for getting himself into things he shouldn't be! (Don't dogs make things more exciting?!) He also gave her a new subject for her photography and videography. While she loves her job, her world revolves around her niece, born July 4, 2014. Marnie is so glad that they live locally, so she can see her on a weekly basis! Thankfully, her niece takes after Marnie's love of photography, and has already mastered the art of the selfie! Until the 2015-2016 school year, Marnie spent her entire teaching career in the same classroom. July of 2015 found Marnie diving into a new challenge, as Hillel Day School's Coordinator of Technological Adventures. This role allows Marnie to take her love for teaching, and her love of technology, to a whole new level as she supports the teachers and students from pre-school through eighth grade. With a tag line of "I don't teach subjects, I teach kids," this opportunity has been a wonderful experience with endless opportunities for innovative, engaging, and creative learning and teaching! |
